N. Claiborne Ave is in the Historic Treme Community. Treme is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the City of New Orleans and was initially the main neighborhood of its free people of color. The N. Claiborne Ave Corridor has a long tradition of housing AfricanAmerican business owners dating back to 1810.

N. Claiborne Ave features an array of historic buildings and a mix of boutique hotels, local food eateries, live music venues, and mom and pop businesses that have been the corner stone of the local economy for generations. It is a diverse community that is walkable to Downtown New Orleans and is located on a major thorough fare that connects you to Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes. We hold a unique array of outdoor festivals, Mardi Gras celebrations and second line parades.

N. Claiborne Ave is a true gem of the New Orleans community, offering a mix of cultural flavor that you can only get in the City of New Orleans.

Our Vision

The vision of the CMBA is to further the business and civic progress of N. Claiborne Ave between Cleveland Ave and Elysian Fields Ave known as the Claiborne Corridor, and to cooperate with civic and community organizations in furthering the development of the area.

We would like to see more economic investments and economic development opportunities for existing businesses on the corridor. We need improvements, neighborhood beautification to the streetscape. Sidewalk repair and more street lighting. An emphasis on crime prevention by improving access to crime cameras along the corridor. Small Business Fa9ade program to provide funding for exterior repairs to businesses along the throughfare. Access to grants and business loans to help jumpstart and grow new businesses but also help existing businesses expand capacity. N. Claiborne Ave can recreate itself by becoming a Cultural Tourism location. With a final development plan and an influx of marketing, it can become what it once was, a thriving, self-sustaining community.
